Easy Christmas Cards SAL - May

Welcome to the fifth part of the Easy Christmas Cards SAL! I had a bit of fun with the stitching this time. I decided to challenge myself and see what I could make with what I could find on my desk... which turned out to be a lot more than anticipated! I *may* need to clear my desk up... just maybe though! Please note that this post is picture heavyish so only load if you are on Wi-Fi!

I found these bits of perforated paper that were cut from around the January card - I ended up only using the left hand one, and cutting out the bit that had gotten torn while on my desk. They are 1 1/2" wide so proper scraps.

I had these threads waiting to be put away. The gold on the bobbin is one of the Kreinik golds, I think it's #24 braid - it and the shiny threads in the baggies came with a batch of Kreinik threads from the San Francisco School of Needlework and Design as part of the stitch at home challenge "Burlesque" that I'd planned to take part in but never did because I wasn't well and I couldn't think of what to stitch in the end. Both threads in the baggies are #4 Very Fine Braid. Also on my desk was DMC 666, white, and 991 as well as a spool of #4 Very Fine Braid 085. Together they made for some fun stitching and fun results.

This is what the card looks like once I'd finished it - with some space for personalisation as always. I won't be doing that till I can get to a shop and poke around for fun stuff to add - but that won't be for a while yet.

And here it, along with the red/gold version, is with the straight stitches added. The thickness of the Kreinik really does make a difference with how it looks.

Here are all four elements together. I won't be giving full instructions on how I made the cards since after doing the stitching all I did was grab some double sided sticky foam squares, stick them to the back of the embroideries (after deciding placement) and adhering them to the card. You can't get it much easier than that!

Although I did get the planned placement perfectly centred in both directions something didn't go quite right once I started sticking them down.

Each element took around an hour to stitch and cut out.
