I first started this blog due to "popular demand" for me to to share my cooking and quilting results in blog form as it was easier for friends and people who know me to see what I'm up to, especially compared to just an image hosting site. Now I blog because I enjoy sharing what I do and hope that I do in some way inspire people to try new things out as well.

Ornament of the Month 2021 - February
Welcome
to the second Ornament of the Month for 2021! The Birthstone for February is amethyst, so that's what this month's colours reflect. I still had some real amethysts left over from the batch I bought back in 2015 for the first Ornament of the month patterns, so I dug them out and used three as part of my finish of this month's ornament.

Ornament of the Month 2021 - January
Welcome
to the first Ornament of the Month for 2021! As you may have seen in the FB group, I was too exhausted yesterday to also finish stitching the ornament as well as write the blog post. I have done the stitching today — at a slower pace that I was trying to do yesterday. I'm still very tired, but I also want to get this done, so you aren't waiting any longer. Things have not been fully finished yet, and I still need to write the tutorial for the finishing of the main shape, but I'm afraid that will have to wait till I have a bit more energy — it will be done before the end of the month. There is a LOT of information in this post — it should answer many questions you may have.

It's a No SAL Tuesday!
Happy Tuesday! We ran out of Tuesday SALs for April so I thought I'd surprise you with a freebie just in case you had run out of stitching to do (HA! As if!). This time I did the pattern with two reds but you can of course use as many colours as you like for this.

Friday Freebie on a Saturday: Ornament of the Month - December
Welcome back for the twelfth Ornament of the Month! It's a little late as I have to admit that I completely forgot yesterday. This is the last pattern for this year and it has by far the most beads/French knots of any of the patterns - if done with beads it will be full of bling! Of course if you wish to use less beads/French knots then by all means do less - it's entirely up to you.

Friday Freebie: Ornament of the Month - November
Welcome back for the eleventh Ornament of the Month! Now it's November, some of you may already be thinking about Christmas decorating - maybe some of you even have trees out! Personally I wait until after Sinterklaas (the Dutch "Santa") has been on December 5th before getting my tree up but that's mostly because with kids it's easier to do one holiday before the other rather than mixing them up. Now it's a family tradition to do it like this and the one time I did it a few days sooner as the kids no longer believed in Sinterklaas it felt really weird to have it up "that early" so I haven't done that again. I'd love to hear what your family or personal traditions are in this respect!

Friday Freebie: Ornament of the Month - October
Welcome back for the tenth Ornament of the Month! A few people may recognise the images below - they were the ones you might have briefly been able to see last month when I posted the incorrect images and posted this month's instead, fortunately I got last month's pattern correct so not all was released too soon! This month the correct images and pattern have been included. The colours remind me of pumpkins and Halloween.

Friday Freebie: Ornament of the Month - September
Welcome back for the ninth Ornament of the Month! With it being September the weather is being a bit more reasonable in temperature - and amount of rain. This is good for me as I've been able to get quite a bit of stitching done but on other projects at the moment still.
The people who looked quickly after I originally published this post will have seen other pictures than you can see now - I'd added the wrong pictures to the post - sorry about that. The pattern was and still is the correct one.

Friday Freebie: Ornament of the Month - August
Welcome back for the eighth Ornament of the Month! The sun wants to turn us all into human fricassee or something by the feel of things - it's still roasting hot! As I'm writing this it's almost 6:30 pm and it's a toasty 33C/91.5 f ! I'm not getting much stitching done as a result - my needle keeps slipping between my rather sweaty fingers - not nice! I am so glad I got a fan to help cool things a bit (but sadly not enough to stitch as much as I'd like).

Friday Freebie on a Saturday: Ornament of the Month - July
Welcome back for the seventh Ornament of the Month! There I was getting ready for my holiday (vacation for those that use holiday to indicate a bank holiday) thinking I'd got all my ducks lined up and all was good in the world (in as far as is possible) when I realised I'd forgotten the Friday freebie! I'm sorry!

A slightly late Friday Freebie: Ornament of the Month - June
Welcome back for the sixth Ornament of the Month! This month it's a little late - sorry about that! I was in the middle of party prep for oldest's birthday sleepover and completely forgot to post it - and was too tired after. Working on the basis of better late than never I decided to post it now (even if it's also a lot later in the day - or night - than it usually is).

Friday Freebie: Ornament of the Month - March
Welcome back for the third Ornament of the Month! When you have finished this one you will be 1/4 of the way! This month we are moving on to a new colour: dark blue. I chose my favourite darker blue for this: DMC 820

Friday Freebie: Ornament of the Month - February
Welcome to the second part of the Ornament of the Month for this year! This month we are doing purple again, but this time a bit lighter. I did find time to do part of a pre-stitch this month and it's a good thing too! What looked fantastic on paper turned out to look like a nasty mess once stitched. Fortunately after a couple of tries I found what I liked and looks nice!

Friday Freebie: Ornament of the Month - January
It's been a while since I used this banner on a post! The Ornament of the Month patterns are back and this time with a difference! Last time the theme was birthstones and I picked colours based on the colour of the birthstone (or birthstones as some months had more than one). This time there is of course a new theme!

A quick little something for the weekend
People who know me know I'm a bit of a fan of Pinky's work, even though I don't like stitching people, I do love the things she makes, and I admire them from afar. Last time she brought out a series of princesses I made some scissor fobs with the colours and this time I will probably do the same for all 3. I am however starting with just the 1 now - Princess Mulan - which Pinky made using original artwork by Hannah Alexander, you can find the pattern here: Pinky the pink's Etsy
Please note that as the patterns are limited to just 50 of each so you may find that the pattern is sold out.
