Tips and Tutorials

Sometimes you just need to see how to do something in order to be able to do it. This is a list of tips and of tutorials on my blog - if you can't find what you are looking for perhaps you can find it on the Helpful Links page.

Tips:

  1. When I design patterns I work on the basis of:
    • One strand of thread over one for Aida when doing backstitch
    • One strand of thread over two for evenweave/linen when doing backstitch
    • Two strands of thread over one for Aida when doing cross stitch
    • Two strands of thread over two for evenweave/linen when doing cross stitch
  2. Patterns may have either 18ct or 14ct set for the size (it doesn't show unfortunately) - I haven't always remembered to adjust this to 14ct - I've adjusted that for new patterns but in patterns I designed before I set this they will still be sized for 18ct! - remember to check the stitch count before starting and see if the fabric you have is large enough.
  3. If you want to change the colours on something I have designed, go for it! Really!
  4. I love seeing what people do with my patterns ESPECIALLY if you have changed it up a bit!
