I first started this blog due to "popular demand" for me to to share my cooking and quilting results in blog form as it was easier for friends and people who know me to see what I'm up to, especially compared to just an image hosting site. Now I blog because I enjoy sharing what I do and hope that I do in some way inspire people to try new things out as well.

Mini Magical Mystery SAL 14 - Part 3
Welcome back for day three of the fourteenth round of mystery stitching! I'm so glad that yesterday's part was so easy to stitch! My brain is refusing to start to wake up even with a cup of coffee - I may have to resort to a second double espresso! Today's part requires a bit more counting but is still nice and easy.

Mini Magical Mystery SAL 14 - Part 2
Welcome back for day two of the fourteenth round of mystery stitching! I'm glad I always count starting stitches from the edge and not from each other as I'd miscounted in the first section I did but not in the other three, so when I got back to where I could check if I got the fourth section of stitches correct I noticed that I'd made a mistake. In case you have forgotten or don't know: I use four threads at the same time and work in sections which makes life easier when I only have to rip a few stitches from the beginning. Then as I was writing this post I noticed that I'd forgotten the centre stitches! And I'd even had most of a cup of coffee today! Usually it's a sip or two at most.

Mini Magical Mystery SAL 14 - Part 1
Welcome back for day one of the fourteenth round of mystery stitching! With today's pattern we are embarking on what may became another six months of mystery stitching - I have the Mini Magical Mystery SAL planned till the end of the year, which would bring us to 18 due to not doing any in November as I'll be doing the bigger Autumn Mystery during that month. I think one daily mystery at a time is enough *grin*.
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Final Post
Welcome back for the final post of the thirteenth Mini
Magical
Mystery SAL! Don't worry it's not over - the Mini Magical Mystery SAL 14
starts in an hour! This post is just a final post showing my stitching
of part fourteen and what I'm planning to do with it. I do hope you
all had fun! I have loved seeing your stitching in the mystery Facebook group!

Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 14
Welcome back for day fourteen of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! This is also the final day of patterns for this SAL - I'll be back one
more time to show my completed mystery tomorrow (an hour earlier than usual).
I hope you had fun stitching! I can't wait to see the results of your mystery stitching! The next round of the Mini Magical Mystery will start tomorrow at
noon as per the information post.

Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 13
Welcome back for day thirteen of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! I'm sorry this post is late because I managed to oversleep - and then knock my coffee over as it wasn't in its usual spot on my desk. Fortunately I'd mostly cleared my desk of thread last night so only three skeins were stained.
I love this part of the mystery where people are wondering where on earth I can squeeze two more days of stitches. Sometimes I wonder too as it's usually been a couple of weeks since I made the design and I can't remember the end result - at least I can peek ahead and see hehe.

NFSAL 2020 - September
Welcome to the ninth of this year's NFSAL posts! I was finally feeling up to doing stuff and promptly overdid it - I'm sure my body saw what I was plotting for the weekend and decided the only way to avoid it all as a nice flare up of my rheumatism. On the plus side the 24 hour blood pressure test I had two weeks ago has shown that my blood pressure is fine as is and I don't need blood pressure meds after all - so there is that. I did start this month's NFSAL but only got the one stitch in - not exactly enough to show much of anything.
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 12
Welcome back for day twelve of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! Today's stitches were difficult to explain and I'm pretty sure my explanation is as clear as mud. So I spent quite a bit of time battling with technology to add an image to the pattern of which stitches need to be added - it's on the information sheet.

Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 11
Welcome back for day eleven of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! With just three more days for this SAL there isn't much space left to put stitches - but as you can guess I did manage to find space to put them all so all you have to do is wait to see what the end result will be this time!

Mini Magical Mystery SAL 14 - Information Post
Hi and welcome to the fourteenth information post for a Mini Magical
Mystery
SAL! With lockdowns easing, but still enforced/sensible for many people
I'm
continuing with
another mystery to keep you stitching! This pattern is the same size as
the previous Mini Magical Mysteries and has 312 stitches total, making
this quite a bit smaller in stitch count than the previous mystery. This mystery will start
the
Monday after the current mystery ends: 28th September.
Please note that due to my health issues I can't post links to fb on a daily basis - please bookmark this site in your browser, add yourself to the email notifications for a daily digest email, or add this site to your RSS feed (the link to add this to your RSS feed is right at the bottom of every page).

Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 10
Welcome back for day ten of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! It's WIP Wednesday! Please show your progress so far - I miss seeing people's progress when they forget to share *hint* *hint*. Today's part has a sneaky extra stitch in the corners so please keep an eye out for it!

A Blackwork Christmas - September
Welcome to the ninth edition of A Blackwork Christmas SAL! I've been doing a bit better lately health wise but still have issues holding my embroidery for longer sessions so while I was able to complete the stitching of today's pattern I didn't get the backstitched outlines or the finishing done. However it's progress which is good.
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 9
Welcome back for day nine of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! If you look at what things look like after stitching today's part you will see why I think this will make a nice border for something - I'll probably do a separate pattern with it when the time is right so that it's easier to stitch for longer bits.
Monday, 21 September 2020
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 8
Welcome back for day eight of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! I hope you like the curves you worked on yesterday as they get a bit more added today in a different spot. Please read the information sheet carefully today - even if you don't print it!
Sunday, 20 September 2020
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 7
Welcome back for day seven of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching, which brings us to the halfway point of this SAL! Time flies as always with these SALs - or at least it seems so for me. Before you know it you will have another finished SAL in your hands and the next one imminent!
Saturday, 19 September 2020
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 6
Welcome back for day six of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! Sometime this weekend I plan on getting the information post up for the 14th Mini Mystery - it's about the same as this one but with the dates changed but I know it's useful to have. If you haven't voted for the Autumn Mystery poll in the fb group where I ask how you like your mysteries best (fast, slow, slow with pre-stitches) please do so - it helps me to decide how to give the next mystery. If it helps I'm thinking of doing it in November. I'll wait till the end of the weekend to see if any more votes come in and then I'll decide dates and make the information post.

35 x 35 for 2020 - September
Welcome to the ninth 35 x 35 for 2020! This month there are only whole stitches and only three colours. No partial stitches, even of the nice sort so it's an easy stitch really. I decided to go for three of the newer colours of DMC: 027, 028, and 029 but you can use any three colours or shades of a colour that you like.
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 5
Welcome back for day five of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! Today most of the time spent writing this post was me wondering what to write today... you'd think that after over six months of daily posts I'd have it down pat but there you go... today I'm out of ideas. Fortunately that doesn't happen with designing - there I'm usually having to cull things that I don't think will work for whatever reason. Usually too big, too small, not my usual style (though that's not really an issue IMO but it usually also has the too big thing attached), or just not suitable for what I'm planning to use it for. I don't want to be too predictable with my mysteries for example. And now you know I can even talk about not knowing what to talk about hehehe.

Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 4
Welcome back for day four of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! I have noticed a lot of new people joining the group lately - welcome all who are new - and not so new! It's great to have more people joining in! I'd love to see what your progress is, please don't wait till the end to share pictures as WIP pictures are more than welcome and brighten up my day!
Wednesday, 16 September 2020
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 3
Welcome back for day three of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! I got completely side tracked this morning with designing patterns but somehow managed not to be too late to write this one in time for it to post. I got the Autumn 2020 Mystery SAL designed, a spare pattern that didn't work out as the Autumn Mystery but was too nice to discard, and this month's 35 x 35 that's due on Friday. Not bad for a mornings designing!

Easy Christmas Cards SAL - September
Welcome to the ninth part of the Easy Christmas Cards SAL! This month I used perforated paper to stitch the elements for the card - I didn't fully finish the card as I want to make a couple more elements but stitching hasn't been easy lately and I only managed three.
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 2
Welcome back for day two of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! I hope the counting went well yesterday - if not then today you will have to recount things in order to get today's stitches placed correctly. Don't you just *love* self-correcting patterns? I do and like to get it done sooner rather than later so if things aren't done right in part one you won't be punished in part twelve with a load of ripping.

Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Part 1
Welcome back for day one of the thirteenth round of mystery stitching! It's funny to think that when I've finished this SAL I'll have been giving these daily patterns for six months with only a short break due to the Summer Mystery SAL which was also given daily. I'm starting to design the Autumn Mystery SAL as well as prepare the Mini Magical Mystery SAL 14 as these things take time and need to be ready for when I need them.
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Final Post
Welcome back for the final post of the twelfth Mini
Magical
Mystery SAL! Don't worry it's not over - the Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13
starts in an hour! This post is just a final post showing my stitching
of part fourteen and what I'm planning to do with it. I do hope you
all had fun! I have loved seeing your stitching in the mystery Facebook group!
Sunday, 13 September 2020
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 14
Welcome back for day fourteen of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! This is also the final day of patterns for this SAL - I'll be back one
more time to show my completed mystery tomorrow (an hour earlier than usual).
The next round of the Mini Magical Mystery will start tomorrow at
noon as per the information post.
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 13 - Information Post
Hi and welcome to the thirteenth information post for a Mini Magical
Mystery
SAL! With lockdowns easing, but still enforced/sensible for many people I'm
continuing with
another mystery to keep you stitching! This pattern is the same size as
the previous Mini Magical Mysteries and has 360 stitches total, making this a little bigger than the previous mystery. This mystery will start the
Monday after the current mystery ends: 14th September.

Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 13
Welcome back for day thirteen of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! Today's penultimate part does a bit more in the centre and is hopefully easier to spot than yesterday's stitches. I'm really keen to see what you think of this SAL so can't wait for tomorrow's part to happen!

Bookmark SAL - September
Welcome to the ninth part of the Bookmark SAL! As you may have noticed I have not been able to organise the finishing instructions for last month's bookmark - I've just not been up to it and discovered that Leonore's idea of finishing with felt on the back was a great idea and now want to re-stitch and do mine like that instead. I haven't even had the energy to start stitching this month's pattern - I'm in recovery mode from going to and fro to the dr's three times in two days.
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 12
Welcome back for day twelve of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! After today's part there are just two more parts left of this SAL! The next one starts on Monday - I'll get the pattern designed and the information post up asap - the size will be the same as always and the thread amounts similar too so it's just the start and end dates that are different.
Thursday, 10 September 2020
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 11
Welcome back for day eleven of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! I'm late with posting again today - I had to take the blood pressure box back this morning. I'd managed to fix yesterday's issues myself by way of google and the manual but I did have to go back yesterday afternoon because they'd fitted me with a cuff for a 6' male hunk and I'm not that by any stretch of the imagination! It fit like a t-shirt sleeve of an oversized t-shirt and kept slipping down - a new, smaller, cuff fixed that fortunately. Now to wait a week or so for the results as the person who ordered the test is away on holiday, but I knew that in advance so it's no biggie.

Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 10
Welcome back for day ten of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! I'm late with posting - I got to collect the box for the 24 hour blood pressure test and needed a rest before doing stuff... and then realised that it wasn't taking my blood pressure so have been on the phone wit the dr's assistant to sort it out. Fun times.

Blackwork SAL 2020 - September
Welcome to the ninth part of the 2020 Blackwork SAL! This month you will again get two pattern options. My back is playing up and I wasn't able to do more than a section of the first of today's pattern before I had to admit that stitching wasn't happening today. Unfortunately it's one of those things but I did take a picture of it and the finished pattern from last month that I'd completed a couple of days after I posted last month's pattern.
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 9
Welcome back for day nine of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! Today's part adds a little flair to the whole - make sure to look carefully at the pattern so you don't miss the sneaky stitches pretending to not be there.
Monday, 7 September 2020
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 8
Welcome back for day eight of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! Having made it to the centre on the seventh day you get to stay there for a little longer! I'm sure you are all excited to see where this is going so scroll on and have a look!
Sunday, 6 September 2020
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 7
Welcome back for day seven of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! Today the post is late because I got side tracked and forgot to keep an eye on the time - at just gone midday I had that eeek moment and rushed to get things done - fortunately the stitching wasn't much and only took me seven minutes. It's a good thing I can stitch fast and whip up a post in a short time too. Also: it's the halfway mark!
Saturday, 5 September 2020
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 6
Welcome back for day six of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! Today you need to use your eagle eyes to spot all the stitches along the sides - there are a few sneaky ones trying to pretend they have been there all along but are in fact new today. You have been warned! That sounds a lot more ominous than intended - they aren't out to get you! Yet.....

Ornament of the Month 2020 - September
Welcome
to the ninth Ornament of the Month for 2020! I'm running a little late unfortunately - I was so close to fully finishing the ornament I decided to finish first, post second. This month's colours of the month
are brown and deep blue. As I've already done a dark blue I decided to go with the brown. It won't look out of place in my tree as last year's April Ornament of the Month was the same brown.
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 5
Welcome back for day five of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! You might almost feel that you've seen this part before but not quite - the placement is slightly different this time round. You'll see what I mean when you open the pattern!
Thursday, 3 September 2020
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 4
Welcome back for day four of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! I hope you like the little tridents we got in part three! I certainly had fun stitching them just before making this post. It's a lot cooler now so my hands are not sweating while holding my needle - which speeds up stitching quite a bit too - as you can imagine!
Wednesday, 2 September 2020
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 3
Welcome back for day three of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! Today we are continuing with a nice easy amount of stitching - no complicated counting today! The first two days saw to that though I can't guarantee it will stay this easy to count.
Tuesday, 1 September 2020
Weavers Animals Band Sampler SAL - Part 9
Temperature SAL - September
Welcome to the ninth Temperature SAL post! I was both saddened and glad that this year's heatwave came without me having to use the darker orange or red - sad because the colour would have been pretty on my embroidery and glad because I for one didn't want it to go above 35C/95F things would have been exceedingly uncomfortable if it had.
Mini Magical Mystery SAL 12 - Part 2
Welcome back for day two of the twelfth round of mystery stitching! After yesterday's easy start we are continuing with some easy stitching today - please do make sure to read the pattern notes (on page two) as they give indicators of where to look for the new stitches. Today will show if you counted correctly yesterday - a good time to do it as you don't want to find out further along.
