The theme for 2018 will be rainbow / colour circle. I will start with purple and work my way through the colours till I get to dark red, so if you were to line the completed ornaments up you could put the purple next to the red and it would continue nicely on to the colours that follow. There is also a new shape this time! Last time was squares - this time triangles/pyramid shapes!
There are three ways of stitching the patterns:
- You can choose to do just two of the triangle shapes and do a 2-D shape
- You can choose to do two of the square shapes and do a 2-D ornament with them.
- You can make all the pattern pieces and make a 3-D pyramid shape.
Once stitched carefully cut between the pieces and use the backstitched lines to whip stitch the shapes together:
- If making the 2-D shape just go all the way round, leaving a space to stuff if you choose to do so, stuff and stitch the last bit closed.
- If making the 3-D pyramid then you need to first whipstitch the triangles to the square base, the fill in the sides. A bit of acid free card put in the base before you add stuffing and close the last seam will help it stay pyramid shaped.

I hope you have a great weekend! I'll see you next week for the next Weavers Tapestry band Sample SAL section, my WIP Wednesday post, and of course the next Friday freebie!
Thank you for the great pattern ~ I've never tried to assemble a pyramid shaped ornament before, so this will be new and fun :)
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome! It will be a bit of a challenge but if you start with the base as suggested and then do one side at a time it should go fine :)
DeleteI've only seen the one, and I already love this new series! You've made a lot of great patterns, but the original Ornaments of the Month are still one of my favourites.
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D I can understand that - they are rather pretty :)
DeleteConsidering using perforated paper. I've never used it before so two fun things- mystery patterns and new technique.
ReplyDeleteThat is an interesting idea! it would certainly be light weight enough and have some strength. You might also consider plastic "fabric" as well :)
DeleteThank You...may just have to try this out.:)
