Friday Freebie: 50 x 50 for 2019 - November

Welcome back for the eleventh edition of the 50 x 50 pattern series! This month I was able to stitch the entire main pattern - and finish finish it too! I'm pretty pleased as I only started this last night, so you can see it stitches up quickly!
I didn't use my normal finishing method but after doing a backstitched line over two spaces rather than the usual one, I used a simple single (in the UK double) crochet to close the seams. I was going to do another round but I liked it like this and decided to leave it as is.
This experiment is also why the post is up a bit later than is usual for me - it took a bit of trial and error to get going.

I used Jodyri Designs September 2019 Limited Edition fabric "Pixie Potion" 18ct Aida and Hong Kong Phooey 030T tie dyed thread to make this. The Crochet thread I used to finish with is a thin crochet cotton that is used with a 1mm crochet hook.
And this is what the alternate pattern looks like. Its two stitches smaller per side than the main pattern so if you want to use them together take this into account.

I'll see you tomorrow for the 2020 Weavers SAL Announcement post, Monday for a SAL announcement, and Tuesday for the next part of the Mamluk SAL!

  1. Now that's an idea....the pattern is beautiful, but I'm even more intrigued by the crochet finishing. I'll have to try that some time!

    1. Thank you! It's pretty fiddly but made easier if you can clearly see the thread (which I couldn't always as the white faded a bit into the grey fabric).
