Welcome
to the third Ornament of the Month for 2019! This month's colour is gold! Gold isn't a metal everyone likes to wear but almost everyone carries some around with them every day without seeing it! It's used in mobile phones and most of us have at least one in the house, if not more.
Before I show off this month's pattern I'm first going to show off the January ornament now that it's been completely finished into the square doughnut shape. I had to take a deep breath before snipping the hole into the centre but it was totally worth it! This one was a bit of a learning curve obviously but I'll be sharing what I did to make this and what I learnt along the way in another post in a few day's time.
Now on to what you *really* came for - this month's pattern! It's very difficult to photograph these colours on pale embroidery fabric - the blue background at least managed to help it show better, so that's something.
Here it is a little closer and from a slight angle, you can tell it's been stitched together a bit better than the January one and it also shows how firmly stuffed it is.
And last of all both together!
As always I'm showing you a photo of the threads and beads I used: DMC 3046, Kreinik #4 Very Fine Braid 002, and TOHO TR-11-22 Silver-Lined Light Topaz size 11 seed beads. If you can't get hold of TOHO beads Miyuki have similar beads as well: #DB686 you can see what they look like here.
Of
course you are free to use whatever colours and threads you like - I'm
just showing you which threads I have chosen for this month, which are
also the colours I charted the pattern with.
You can find the pattern here
If you are stitching this too and want to join us on Facebook just go to
the Facebook group and apply!
If you want to (also) join in on Instagram or Twitter all you need to do
is use the tag #OrnamentoftheMonth and mention me
@Magical525 and I'll be sure to look in on your work and possibly even
re-tweet it if it's on Twitter!
My next pattern will
be posted tomorrow over on Deviant Art: the NFSAL. If you can't access
it don't worry! I'll be posting it here on my blog next Thursday.
This weekend I'll be posting the doughnut ornament finishing tutorial mentioned above and before that a tassel making tutorial.
The next pattern I'll be posting on my blog is the Weavers Bird SAL on Tuesday. Have a great weekend and have fun stitching!
I first started this blog due to "popular demand" for me to to share my cooking and quilting results in blog form as it was easier for friends and people who know me to see what I'm up to, especially compared to just an image hosting site. Now I blog because I enjoy sharing what I do and hope that I do in some way inspire people to try new things out as well.
