25 x 25 for 2019

 25 x 25 is pretty small but gives space to do lots of fun stuff - and to make lots of fun stuff too! You can make a fob, ornament, earrings, or even a pendant with them if you wish! In some cases the pattern will tessellate nicely and you could make it as big as you wish!

The information below is a good place to start if you want to know how much fabric you will need for one embroidery - if you want to stitch them all on one piece you will need to use the handy tool mentioned in the fabric section to work it out as there are just too many variables for me to put it all here - sorry.

What: 

• This is a SAL to make twelve 25 x 25 embroideries.
• Each pattern is 25 stitches square.
• The patterns can contain whole cross stitches, backstitches, French knots/Colonial knots/beads and occasionally other stitches based on groupings of straight stitches. 
• There will be twelve monthly patterns. 
• The pattern is given in two to four colours.

 Where: 

• All patterns are posted here on my blog.
• There is a Facebook group to share progress and talk about the project here.

When:

• Patterns will be given every third Friday of the month - there is a "calendar" in the side bar so you can see the exact dates.
• I will start on the 18th of January 2019.

Fabric:

• I have rounded up the numbers working from the actual size of the stitching to make sure you have enough fabric. 
• Fabric amounts are given based on stitching over one bunch of Aida or over two threads of evenweave. 
• Fabric amounts are given working on the basis that you will stitch the front only and use another fabric for the back.
• If you decide to stitch over one you will of course need less fabric. 
• I have given 3 inches / 7.62 cm of fabric on each side for finishing (for cm it's converted from inches). 
• If you want to stitch a back as well then you will need to use this helpful tool and put in the size of the fabric you are using (for Aida say you are using 1 stitch per thread) the stitch count is then 25 for each side = 50 + 10 stitches for seam allowance between the two sections = 60 stitches wide x 25 high. Make sure to put 3 for the amount of fabric for finishing and framing.
• If you wish to calculate the fabric for yourself based on your plans or with less finishing space then this is a helpful tool.

Size in inches per embroidery:

• For 14ct Aida/28ct evenweave:
• The pattern is 1.8 inches square.
• It requires a piece of fabric that is 7 3/4 inches square.
• For 16ct Aida/32ct evenweave:
• The pattern is 1.6 inches square. .
• It requires a piece of fabric that is 7 1/2 inches square.
• For 18ct Aida/36ct evenweave:
• The pattern is 1.4 inches square.
• It requires a piece of fabric that is 7 1/2 inches square.
• For 20ct Aida/40ct evenweave.
• The pattern is 1.3 inches square.
• It requires a piece of fabric that is 7 1/4 inches square.

Size in cm per embroidery:

• For 14ct Aida/28ct evenweave:
• The pattern is 4.57 cm square.
• It requires a piece of fabric that is 20 cm square.
• For 16ct Aida/32ct evenweave:
• The pattern is 4.01 cm square.
• It requires a piece of fabric that is 19 cm square.
• For 18ct Aida/36ct evenweave:
• The pattern is 3.56 cm square.
• It requires a piece of fabric that is 19 cm square.
• For 20ct Aida/40ct evenweave.
• The pattern is 3.3 cm square
• It requires a piece of fabric that is 18.5 cm square.

Floss:

• Floss is calculated based on using two strands over one (or two for evenweave). 
• Skein amount is given for DMC floss which has six strands and eight metres long - if you use another brand you may need more floss. 
• Unfortunately PCStitch doesn't give less than 0.1 skein as a floss amount for patterns so while in many cases leftover floss from other projects will be enough I can't be more exact than this.
• If you decide to stitch with one strand of floss over one fabric thread you will of course need less thread. If you need help calculating this please do ask!

 Floss use per embroidery:

• For all sizes you will need approximately:
• 0.1 skein of DMC floss per colour as per the key for each month as it's released.
