SALs for 2019 - an Overview of Plans and Days

Next year is going to be super busy here when it comes to SAL's I have a lot of plans and idea's and will be making them happen in different ways. This is a post to let you know what I'm planning and when to expect things to happen! Note: This is an overview post so exact information for each SAL will be given at a later date.

Continuing SAL's

First up will be the annual NYE Mystery SAL which will start on the 31st of December - there will be a post with information about the times pattern pieces drop, what fabric and threads you need etc. etc. in the near future - it's going to be smallish (less than 60 stitches square) and you should be able to use threads you have on hand - as always with these mystery SAL's you can use any colour you like! You can find the information post here
Next is the Ornament of the Month. In 2019 I'll be doing a different shape from last year and keeping it pretty small so it's hopefully doable in a weekend, As in 2018 each new pattern will be posted on the first Friday of the month, if you look in the sidebar you will see the dates for this are already listed. You can find the overview post here
While the Weavers Tapestry Band Sampler is technically over many people (including myself) have not finished stitching this so I'll continue with this in the coming year - how is still being decided but I have many plans (and some raffles) in mind as part of what happens. More information will be given before too long.

If you haven't seen it yet go check the fb group as there is a raffle ongoing now till the end of the 24th of December and the drawing will be on Christmas day! All information has been pinned in the group (click to get taken to the group).

NFSAL - This is the SAL I host with Mattsma over on Deviant Art. It is getting a new time and day for pattern release in 2019. Each pattern will be released on the first Saturday of the month. Unlike last year the patterns will not be the same size every month but they will all use just a single colour of thread.

New for 2019: I'll also post the patterns to the blog on the first Thursday of the month AFTER the pattern has been posted on Deviant Art, so if you can't access them on Deviant Art you can access them here!

Friday Freebie - (not really a SAL but adding here anyway) On the Friday's when there isn't a SAL I will try and post a freebie. As regular readers will know this doesn't always happen - especially towards the end of the year as the weather gets worse and my rheumatism starts playing up.

New SAL's

All of these SAL's will get an individual post with more information in the next few weeks.

Weavers Birds SAL - this will be smaller than the Weavers Tapestry Band Sampler and will be from the same patterns as the original but then with birds. Each part will be given on the first Tuesday of the month, with sections marked should you prefer to work in weekly sections. You can find the overview and border here.
Mamluk Cross Stitch Sampler SAL - the pattern was inspired by a Medieval Mamluk period (1250 - 1517) cross stitch I saw in the Ashmolean Museum last summer and thought it would make a fun SAL - it's not very big and is only a fragment of the entirety that it would have been when it was new as not all of it survived, so won't take too many hours of stitching. Each part will be given on the second Tuesday of the month. You can find the overview post here.
Medieval Owl SAL - this is a pattern with many colours, I'm still refining it but there are currently 34 colours (it might get less but I'm not sure I can eliminate the last few colours with less than 15 stitches per colour), you won't be able to do the pick your own colours for this pattern. It is 150 x 128 stitches and it will look best on a parchment printed/hand dyed fabric. I will show this pattern when I give the full details so you can decide if you like it before you start. Each part will be given on the third Tuesday of the month. I'll try to give around the same number of stitches each month. You can find the overview post here
Blackwork SAL - This is the SAL for those of you who LOVE backstitches. The pattern is just 50 stitches square so not too difficult to keep up with. Each part will be given on the fourth Tuesday of the month. You can find the overview post here
Finish it in 2019 - I did this for myself back in 2013 and am bringing it back for a wider audience to help people focus on finishing WIP's and/or UFO's - update posts on the first Wednesday of the month, you can join in here or on fb! You can find the overview post here
50 x 50 for 2019 - This SAL will give a new 50 x 50 pattern every month so at the end you will have 12 patterns of this size - each pattern only uses one colour so will be perfect for you to use a solid, several colours, or perhaps a variegated thread - the choice is yours! A new pattern will be given every second Friday of the month. You can find the overview post here
25 x 25 for 2019 - This SAL will give you 12 patterns that are 25 x25 stitches - what is a surprise as is how many colours used but each pattern will make a fun little ornament and some may be ideal to enlarge by stitching many together. A new pattern will be given every third Friday of the month. You can find the overview post here

Discontinued SAL's:

I will not be doing a Fob a Month in 2019 - it may return at some time in the future but not for next year.

That's it for the SAL's for next year and as you can see it's going to be a busy year! I do hope you will drop by now and then and feel free to post comments - you don't need to be signed up for anything to do so.
