Welcome
to the slightly late (but still on Friday for me) tenth Ornament of the Month for 2019! This month's colour is pumpkin - October really called for a nice orange and the one used in the pattern reminds me the most of pumpkins. Today's post is, as mentioned slightly late. I was trying to get the ornament finish finished before making the post but oldest came home early and wanted to get the apple jam made this evening rather than waiting till tomorrow. Since he rarely wants to do stuff with me I decided not to say no as its good time spent together and it's nice to just chop apples together and talk. We got 3 and 3/4 jars of jam from this batch - and we will be making strawberry apple jam tomorrow!
And here it is - not the best photo but when I took the photo I was expecting to be taking photos of a completed ornament before making the post.
It currently looks like this - just a tiny corner done so far but I'm going to keep plugging along on this to completely finish it before putting it aside.
As my bead box is almost empty I decided to show you the beads in the dish along with the threads. On the left is DMC 720 which is used for the stitching itself. The middle thread is orange craft thread. On the right is Kreinik 027L #4 Very Fine Braid. The
beads are TOHO TR-11-2208 Silver-Lined Burnt Orange. If you can't get
hold
of TOHO beads Miyuki have similar beads as well: DB603 - you can see
what
they look like here. Mill Hill have plain beads that match the DMC 307 thread: 02034 Autumn Flame - you can see
what
they look like here.
Of
course you are free to use whatever colours and threads you like - I'm
just showing you which threads I have chosen for this month, which are
also the colours I charted the pattern with.
You can find the pattern here
If you are stitching this too and want to join us on Facebook just go to
the Facebook group and apply!
If you want to (also) join in on Instagram or Twitter all you need to do
is use the tag #OrnamentoftheMonth and mention me
@Magical525 and I'll be sure to look in on your work and possibly even
re-tweet it if it's on Twitter!
I'll see you Tuesday with the tenth part of
the Mamluk SAL!
I first started this blog due to "popular demand" for me to to share my cooking and quilting results in blog form as it was easier for friends and people who know me to see what I'm up to, especially compared to just an image hosting site. Now I blog because I enjoy sharing what I do and hope that I do in some way inspire people to try new things out as well.
