Friday Freebie: Blackwork Fob

This week a pattern that can be done in any thread and in any colour - or lots! It would also be perfect to stitch with variegated thread. As its 50 stitches for the stitched area and 52 if you include the backstitched line that's intended to whip stitch front and back together it would also make a nice pincushion or biscornu, especially if done on 14ct Aida or 28ct evenweave.

Christmas in July: Overview Post

It's almost July and time to let you know a little of what I have in store for you in July. As I have mentioned before in a few of my recent posts I am planning on giving a new freebie every single day during July!

WIP Wednesday(ish)

Last week I showed you the end of a row of my Vakje per week - and the last of this batch of greens. This week I can show you the start of a new row and a new colour: brown

June TUSAL

My little jar where I keep the ORT's
My jar is looking a bit full as I've been very busy again this month which means this post will be very picture heavy! For those of you wondering what on earth a TUSAL is: it stands for Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long and its just keeping all your threads etc. from stitching in a jar and then posting once a month (or so) what you stitched since the last post.

Friday Freebie: Illuminated Square

This week's freebie pattern was inspired by an illuminated manuscript that Emily Steiner tweeted. It's only a small section of the background but it stands well on its own too.

WIP Wednesday

Last week I showed you the two variations offered for the Vakje per week project, last Friday they only gave one pattern (fortunately!)

Friday Freebie: Surrounded

This week's freebie started with me wanting to use DMC 995 and because it goes so well with black and white I added those too. The nice thing of course is that any colour goes well with black and white so if you don't like DMC 995 you can swap that out for any colour you like!

WIP Wednesday

Last week was the first of the odd shaped boxes for the Vakje per week, this week the next. The pattern given last Friday was a darning pattern and because some people were having trouble with the darning patterns on Aida they also gave a cross stitched alternate version.

Friday Freebie: Be True

This month is pride month so I thought it was only right and proper to honour the gay friends I've had over the years with a pattern. The first friend that I knew was gay I met when I was just 13, and the fact that her mother was extremely homophobic made our friendship very difficult as her mother decided that my friend wasn't allowed any female friends at all.

WIP Wednesday

Yes, this week I did do the Vakje per week, it was a nice pattern and with a bit of tweaking to the space I wanted to use it fit nicely too. I had to tweak it because of not doing the one before that I didn't like (and wouldn't fit as it was a full alphabet)

May TUSAL

Front of jar with my needle minders - the dragon is being helpful and holding a needle for me.
I'm really late for this but then it's not as long this time as it was last time (a year hehe). My jar is pretty full as I've been very busy which means this post will be very picture heavy! For those of you wondering what on earth a TUSAL is: it stands for Totally Useless Stitch-A-Long and its just keeping all your threads etc. from stitching in a jar and then posting once a month (or so) what you stitched since the last post. It's a good way of seeing that you stitched more (or occasionally less) than you thought.

Friday Freebie: Red and Black Optical Illusion

Sometimes with the right placement of colour you can trick your eyes a bit into thinking more is going on if you stare at it long enough, I can't guarantee this is one of those designs but this pattern will certainly trick your eyes while you are stitching it!
