UFO #11: Turquoise advances!

I finished all but one needle full of the dark green grey (3051) thread before deciding it was time to do another colour as it was starting to get uncomfortable working so high up in the hooped area before filling all the little squares with very light old gold (677) which is not very visible in the photo I'm afraid. I then moved on to do more of the turquoise (597) arrows. I plan on doing a few more needlesful of the turquoise before going on to do all the little filler squares, which require a lot of starting and ending of threads to avoid long jumps between areas.

Oldest had forgotten to take money for my thread to school so had to go back to get it - much grumbling occurred but he can't go tomorrow so it had to be today, he made the most of it and stocked up on his favourite chocolate bar from the Dutch equivalent of a dollar store/pound shop just round the corner from the sewing shop so he was happy in the end.

For those wondering - All the extra sleep I've been having lately (12 hour + nights) has been doing me the world of good and I'm feeling better overall, though I still have a nasty cough and sneeze a bit it's not as bad as it was.

  1. Rest is always the best medicine! And then chocolate and then cross stitch...but usually the sleep doesn't happen because of the cross stitch and you can't safely eat chocolate when cross stitching because you can get it all over your project and then you have to stop and swear and wash things and then any chance of getting any rest is out the window because you have to spend time scrubbing chocolate stains out of your fabric!!!

    1. Fortunately I was out of chocolate so I was spared the trauma of getting chocolate stains out of fabric :D Do it was 2 our of 3, not bad and the least tiring of the 3 hehe.

I shall be fixing the lack of chocolate soon though as I also have an out of bacon error and the kids will be at ex's this weekend :)

  2. Carla forgot the best cold cure besides sleep, Scotch, (or your alcohol of choice) and it's much safer near fabric than chocolate. The stitching is looking beautiful, but was the shop still scary?

    1. I have been liberally applying rum as needed while I still had coke to mix it with :) Thanks, I have more or less ruined the good looks though as I have marked it with a trickmarker to see where I have to put all the little circles. The shop was less scary as the nice younger lady was there who rather liked the idea of a son getting threads for his mother :)

  3. I've dragged my husband along with me when I have to get thread, much to his dismay. But it does help when I have like 30 colors I need to get since I can give him half the list. Never sent him to the store on his own.

Glad you are feeling a little better. And the progress you have made is just amazing. :)

    1. This shop doesn't allow anyone but one of the employees to touch the threads (or anything else for that matter - hence it being the "scary shop" lol) so all one has to do is give the numbers and stand back, which makes it safe enough to send my oldest to get the threads.

Me too - I so hate being ill. I have not had much else to do and as the pattern is seriously repetitive it doesn't take much to remember what to do :)
