TW arrivals...

So today my patterns arrived in the post - properly taped up so it was hard to open the envelope but that meant that they couldn't fall out in transit so all is good. I had a look at them and got the old rabbit in headlights feeling after seeing the massive lists of blended colours needed for the projects - I don't think I could face working on all 3 at the same time lol.

One thing I noticed was that all 3 are the original patterns - hand drawn that is, not computer generated, so I will need to take great care in reading Teresa's site to make sure I see any pattern edits I need to make etc. and just to be safe I'm going to check out the Teresa Wentzler bulletin board before I start too!

Most importantly I think I shall make the Peacock Tapestry Ornament and English Cottage Sampler Ornament  first so I can see what it would look like on the fabric I have and am thinking of using for it/them and try out the speciality stitches before it *really* matters.

  1. YAY!!! I'm sitting here clapping with excitement! I do have one recommendation, for TW patterns, if nothing else make sure you have something like evenweave or linen if you aren't going for the fabric's listed for the pattern. Your budget doesn't allow for a quick buy at Sew and So (which you introduced me to) HOWEVER, it is possible for me to send you some fabrics of proper size if you need any? Let me know!

    1. Thanks <3 I do have that mystery 25ct zweigart fabric I got when I was at the super stuffed needlework shop (see the futurecast post) but It might be too dark - Will see after I test it while making the ornaments but first I am making myself be good and work more on the floortile. :)

    2. Well, I did look online at Sew and So and Ebay and The Find and apparently I purchased the LAST piece of Driftwood for ECS....this makes me sad as I know you would have loved that fabric. It's quite beautiful so why Zweigart would discontinue making it is beyond me :(

    3. Thanks for looking <3 I'm glad we did find that fabric for you!

Don't worry I'm almost certain that the fabric I have will do colour wise for the ECS - I'll pull the threads from my stash and put them on the fabric and take a photo in daylight so you can see :) Although admittedly the anti pink person in me is plotting swapping the purples/pinks to shades of yellow or white hehe. I can just see yellow roses or possibly white roses on it :)

Companies like that like to add new colours all the time and hate making ones that they have had for years that aren't boring white.

  2. Yay!!! ^_^ Don't you just love getting things in the mail like that? I know I was super excited when I got my projects for Emma. I think doing the ornaments are a great idea since I don't think those specialty stitches are one we all do on a normal basis. ;)

    1. It is indeed - It's a lot more complicated than I expected though - its almost completely blended threads using 2 - 3 different colours for it.

  5. Hehe yeah, this Peacock is quite a challenge...don't worry too much about the hand drawn though, mine is a hand drawn version too, and still very readible and I think it already got all of the corrections. And if you run into any symbols you can't read, give me a poke and I'll see if my copy is better in that place :D

    1. Thanks :) I think I shall be scanning it into my computer so I can mark my progress as I work as I find it easier to keep track like that :)

  6. If you don't want to bother with a hand drawn version, you can buy the digital version from Patterns Online (http://www.patternsonline.com/AtPOL/Publisher.aspx?PID=30) It's not very expensive and well worth getting.
