Ornament of the Month - March

A bit later in the day than planned but here is the 3rd Ornament of the month - March. The birthstone of March is aquamarine, a stunning blue gem that is so difficult to capture in thread form as there isn't really a thread colour that is close, however I was able to find some blues that do look nice with aquamarine coloured beads.

This is the ornament finished as part of the garland. Made on 16ct antique white Aida, which makes it 2 1/4" square, in the colours listed in the pattern. I sewed it together in the way you'd sew a biscornu together adding beads (not sure what they are - they have been in my stash "forever") adding loops made of twisted craft thread and at the bottom I added 2 Swarovski bicones and a Swarovski heart shaped bead.
This is the ornament finished with the border from the wall hanging finishing suggestion. Made on 16ct antique white Aida, which makes it 3" square, in the colours listed above. I sewed it together in the way you'd sew a biscornu together adding beads (the same ones as I used for the garland finish). I added a loop made of twisted craft thread to hang it with and at the bottom I added a tassel made with the same thread and split the 2 full threads into 6 groups of 2, threaded a Swarovski bicone on each and then braided the threads above where the beads were.

You can find the pattern here

The next pattern will be available on Friday 3rd April.

Note: This post used to be on NCC International Headquarters however I have moved this here so as to have all my patterns in the same place. It has been posted with the date that it was posted to the original site so as not to confuse people visiting my blog.
