Day 3: I plugged along doing the long and short stitch - got 3 more lots of thread in and not much seems to be done for all that thread.
I first started this blog due to "popular demand" for me to to share my cooking and quilting results in blog form as it was easier for friends and people who know me to see what I'm up to, especially compared to just an image hosting site. Now I blog because I enjoy sharing what I do and hope that I do in some way inspire people to try new things out as well.

Friday Freebie: Spider's Web and TUSAL
The end of this month and the beginning of the next mark the 6 months to Halloween point - so what better way to celebrate it than to have a quick little Halloween related pattern?

Journey: Day 2
This is where I left off yesterday. With the kids home from school for the May holiday (yes I know... that's the Dutch for you hehe) I somehow don't get as much stitching done.

WIP Wednesday and finishes
Journey: Day 1
Day 1: I decided that since I was going to have an oasis in the picture I may as well start with that.

Journey: A new project
All journeys start somewhere - this one started with the fabric. It wasn't always this colour - it used to be off white but with the help of some brown Dylon fabric paint it is now this lovely shade.

WIP Wednesday: The SAL's and non WIP's
Having realised I was running out of space faster than expected last week I started a row of smaller squares - this week I continued that on the opposite side as that way I'd be able to get more of the crowns in that were this week's pattern. My plan for this row is a row of 1 x 20 stitches square box , 2 x 19 wide by 20 high boxes and then finishing with a 1 x 20 stitch square box.

Easter Freebie 4: Mini Blackwork Box Pillow
Today is the last day of the Easter freebies, I hope you have enjoyed the patterns! Today's pattern is quite a large project for its small size - if you make the front, back and 4 side panels there is 451.27 inches of backstitching!

Easter Freebie 3: Little Easter Flower Fob
Today's Easter freebie is a really tiny one! If stitched on 18ct Aida it's a mere 1 1/4" square! At just 22 stitches per side it's tiny no matter which size fabric you decide to use - 14ct Aida (or 28ct evenweave when done 2 over 2) would come in at not quite 1 2/3" square. It's a great fob size or even as a charm for on your bag or keys, or, if you can take the weight, it would do as an earring too!
Of course you can use any colour you like instead of the orange, I just happen to love the bright cheerfulness of orange but perhaps you'd prefer blue, purple or pink instead.
Finished using orange craft thread for the tassel and cord and TOHO seed beads TR-11-174 - Trans-Rainbow Lt Hyacinth
You can find the pattern here

Easter Freebie 2: Rainbow Lattice
Welcome to day 2 of my Easter freebies weekend! Like the Surprise Freebie: Rainbow Hearts this pattern was made with the Facebook group Rainbows for Peace and Comfort in mind though of course anyone may stitch it if they want.
The central mostly open space is intended for the name of the person the square is being stitched for as there should be enough space above and below the heart to do so and as the pattern is smaller than the maximum size for the square there is also space on the outside for the name and state/country to be added in as well.
You can find the pattern here
I hope you enjoy this pattern and please do leave a message if you use this pattern! It would be fun to see your stitches :)

WIP Wednesday: The SAL's and More!
Having done those really big boxes last week on the Vakje per week I realised I needed to be more careful as it was only April and I am getting close to the half way mark of the fabric. So this week I went the opposite way - instead of dividing the width of the fabric in half after removing the 3 stitches I have between each box. I first removed 3 lots of 3 stitches and divided the rest into 4 to make 4 mini boxes. Unfortunately this did not create 4 equal boxes - I get 2 x 20 and 2 x 19 stitches wide - by 20 high. But it will work out as long as I keep them mirrored.

Surprise Freebie: Rainbow Hearts
My friend Carla has been stitching squares for the FaceBook group Rainbows for Peace and Comfort which inspired me to think about what I could do to help as I have enough going on already that I don't feel that I can commit time to something like this myself. While doodling in the pattern maker, which I do when my mind needs to think while not stitching, this happened and I thought it would be perfect for the group.
