Easter is one of those times of year that deserves it's own ornaments but somehow I get round to doing that even less than I did with Christmas ornaments before last year's ornament of the month project. Yesterday I decided this had to change and chose to do one of the Easter patterns NevaSirenda on deviantArt has created for Easter using her own Ukrainian heritage as the inspiration for the patterns and colours for them. She makes one every year and every year I told myself "I must make this" and then not get round to it. Now I have!
The pattern I used was for the 2011 Easter egg, the oldest one of NevaSirenda's Easter patterns.
It uses 5 colours and is 44 x 28 stitches. I finished it into a 3 1/2" ornament with a cord and tassels made with craft thread.
I hope your Easter celebrations are going to plan and that you have just enough dry weather for the Easter egg hunts!
I first started this blog due to "popular demand" for me to to share my cooking and quilting results in blog form as it was easier for friends and people who know me to see what I'm up to, especially compared to just an image hosting site. Now I blog because I enjoy sharing what I do and hope that I do in some way inspire people to try new things out as well.

I love that egg ornament, it is fantastic! As someone of Ukranian/Polish descent - thank you! I'll have to grab that one :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm so happy you like it, when you look for the pattern for this one be sure to look out for the other 5 egg patterns she made :)
DeleteHow funny, I think that same thing about stitching up her patterns as well!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I get it with so many patterns, sometimes you just need to make them happen.
DeleteLooks great! I hadn't noticed her eggs until this year :)
